Paul Simpson says he is working hard to bring in FOUR more signings to Carlisle United.

And the manager says the Blues have lodged an offer for their latest target.

Simpson has so far made six additions and he wants to add to that number before the start of the season.

He said a number of targets are potential loan signings from Premier League clubs.

He added: “We’ve got another position where we’ve put an offer in for a player, but I don’t know where we’re at with that right now.

“We just have to keep going and waiting to see what it brings.”

Simpson said he could not guarantee United would have all their business done before the big League One kick-off on August 5.

He said the Blues were having to be patient when it came to possible loan additions from the top-flight.

“We’re certainly looking to bring players in. I’m still of the view that I want four more and that’s what I’ll continue to look to do,” Carlisle’s boss added.

“Hopefully we’ll have them here before we start in August. I can’t honestly tell you.

“I’ve been close and it’s fallen flat on its backside, and I’ve been far away and then suddenly something has happened within 12 hours.

“Who knows. We have things that we’re pushing to try and get. We’re still being guided by Premier League clubs on four players for loans, so I’m waiting on that.”

United’s manager has already indicated this pre-season that he is interested in bringing back two more of last season’s loanees in Nottingham Forest’s Fin Back and Crystal Palace’s JK Gordon.

The Blues need to strengthen their numbers in attack as well as bolstering the right wing-back position.

Simpson must also decide on the goalkeeping situation regarding back-up to No1 Tomas Holy, with trialist Dan Langley continuing his bid to earn a deal.
