He has been signed to add some attacking zest to Carlisle United's team in League One next season.

And Dan Butterworth has already made his mark at that level.

The 23-year-old enjoyed two spells in the third tier whilst on loan from Blackburn Rovers.

He scored once in his time with Fleetwood Town in 2021/22, and four times with Port Vale last season.

Here's a look at his goals.

Firstly, Butterworth produced a piece of close-range poaching for Fleetwood in a 3-2 defeat to Burton Albion...

His first Port Vale strike, a winning goal against Lincoln City, was also a moment of smart anticipation as he pounced on a goalkeeper's save to score...

Two games later he found space in a packed box to net in an FA Cup defeat against Exeter City...

And a further two games on he came up with a superb goal to sink Charlton Athletic back in the league, as he collected a long ball and outfoxed an Addicks defence that included fellow new United signing Sam Lavelle...

Butterworth then signed off his scoring for the Valiants later in the season - and, again, in some style, as he was first to read a ball forward and then dispatched it first-time...
