Carlisle United have called for no repeat of the incidents of "fan disorder" which hit the club's promotion season in 2022/23.

The Blues say that a number of incidents, which saw the club under investigation, cause "damage" to United.

Directors issued the message amid updates to supporters' groups (CUSG).

Chief executive Nigel Clibbens underlined the message as he confirmed United remained under investigation over a number of matters in May's play-off semi-final second leg against Bradford City.

An earlier league game against Bradford, on Boxing Day last year, saw allegations of racist chanting from some fans - a charge to which United have pleaded guilty.

Clibbens said the seriousness of such incidents cannot be played down and the Blues want no repeat as they return to League One in the 2023/24 season.

Writing in his monthly official update, Clibbens said: "We continue to be under FA investigation for incidents at the Bradford play-off 2nd leg including pyros, missiles, pitch incursion and pitch invasion.

"The outcome is to be confirmed by the FA. We are working closely with the Police.

"We have also been charged by the FA for racist chanting at the Boxing Day game versus Bradford. We have pleaded guilty and are awaiting the sanction.

"These incidents of fan disorder must not continue into the 23/24 season. They are damaging the club."

United have said they will confirm the outcome of the investigations and potential sanctions in due course.

"In advance of the new season and first home friendly we again appeal to fans not to misbehave," added Clibbens.

The club say they will continue to work with fan groups on this issue, as well as issuing posters and social media messages, along with increased stewarding at Brunton Park.
