A look at some of the latest news and gossip from around League One…

TYKES BOSS CHECKS IN

New Barnsley boss Neil Collins believes he can bring the good times back to Oakwell.

The former Leeds United defender has replaced Michael Duff at the helm, having left American side Tampa Bay Rowdies, and has added Jon Stead to his coaching team.

Collins, speaking on the Tykes’ website, said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be stepping back in to the EFL and even more so to be joining a club of this stature.

“I can’t wait to get started and work on getting this club back to where it belongs.”

LIVERPOOL PROSPECT LINKED

Liverpool striker Layton Stewart is being eyed by Blackpool, Northampton Town and Barnsley, reckons Football Insider.

The 20-year-old could be available for a loan move and the League One trio are said to be interested.

Stewart made his first-team debut at Anfield in last season’s Carabao Cup against Derby County.

RAMS LAND EXPERIENCED DEFENDER

Experienced defender Sonny Bradley has become Derby County’s latest signing after leaving Premier League new boys Luton Town.

Ex-Plymouth Argyle man Bradley, 31, has signed a two-year deal at Pride Park.

"I just feel like it's a really, really good fit for football. I've spoke to James Collins who I played with quite a lot and I've also spoke to other players so I'm well aware that the lads are great,” said Bradley on Rams TV.

ROBINS BOSS RUES DEPARTURES

Cheltenham Town boss Wade Elliott is ruing the loss of three members of the Robins’ backroom staff to Shrewsbury Town.

Director of football Micky Moore has been followed to Salop by coach Marcus Bignot and recruitment analyst Tom Ware.

“The timing of it has obviously impacted on us," Elliott told GloucestershireLive. "There's no dressing it up, it's a bit of a speed bump, but it is what it is and we'll have to deal with it.”

READING UNDER SCRUTINY

Reading Today ran a blank front page in response to what it says is a lack of communication from Reading FC’s hierarchy over the club’s troubles.

The newspaper’s front was blank except for the club’s crest and the words: “This page contains all the news from Reading FC’s hierarchy about their plans for the club.”

Editor Phil Creighton told Hold The Front Page: “As the club headed to relegation to League One, the radio silence from Reading FC’s hierarchy has been a major concern for fans, so much so they have set up a group campaigning for the owner Dai Yongge to sell the club.”

U’S MAN IN DEMAND

Oxford United’s Tyler Goodrham is attracting Championship interest, report The Guardian.

They say the young winger could be on the move this summer after his impressive end to last season.

Goodrham, 19, has stepped to prominence at Oxford after loan spells at Hayes & Yeading Town and Slough Town.

BLACKPOOL MANAGER’S HOPE

Returning Blackpool boss Neil Critchley is in positive mood as he bids to turn things around at Bloomfield Road following last season’s relegation.

The Tangerines beat Southport in a pre-season friendly and Critchley gave a mixed analysis of the game.

“There were lots of promising patterns and moments that we've been working on in training, but our technical level and decision-making was found wanting at times - but that's understandable because there's a little bit of fatigue,” the manager told the club website.

EX-GERS HEAD FOR RAMS

Two former Rangers players are reportedly heading to Derby County on trial.

Teenager Tony Weston is set to train with the Rams, according to the Daily Record.

And Charlie Lindsay is also linking up with Paul Warne’s squad.

CODS BOSS’S NEW DEAL

Fleetwood Town boss Scott Brown believes he can bring success to the club after signing a new deal.

The Celtic legend is under contract until 2025 and said: “I’ve been made to feel right at home by the Fleetwood staff, players, and fanbase so I just want to give everything I can to bring success to the town, hopefully starting with a win on Saturday.”

Fleetwood owner Andy Pilley was last week jailed for 13 years for fraud. The club said the convictions of Pilley and his associated were not connected to the club and that Town would “continue to operate as normal.”

SCOTS KEEPER LINKS UP WITH COBBLERS

Northampton Town have handed a trial to Scottish goalkeeper Aidan McAdams.

The 24-year-old is hoping to impress the Cobblers as he seeks to move on from Ayr United.

FootballScotland say McAdams is “seeking a new adventure” after six years north of the border.

BARTON LOOKS ELSEWHERE

Bristol Rovers boss Joey Barton is turning his attention to new attacking targets after missing out on Alfie May.

The Cheltenham man instead joined Charlton Athletic.

Rovers already possess several frontman including Aaron Collins, John Marquis, Scott Sinclair, Luke Thomas, Jevani Brown and ex-Carlisle man Ryan Loft, but Barton wants another, according to Bristol Live.
