A former Carlisle United youth prospect has linked up with Carlisle City.

Midfielder Dan Hill has joined the Northern League Division One club.

It follows his release from the Blues at the end of his academy deal last month.

Hill came through United's youth set-up and also spent time out on loan at Cleator Moor Celtic last season.

He was one of several players let go by the Blues who only retained one second-year under-18 player on pro terms - Kai Nugent.

Confirming the move, Carlisle City said: "We are delighted to announce the signing of Dan Hill who joins us from Carlisle United.

"Dan is an attacking player who will add some further attacking threat to the team."

City have previously confirmed the return of striker Rob McCartney from Annan Athletic as well as ex-United youth defender Roan Steele from the Scottish League One club.

Former Gretna defender Jack Dickinson has also signed for the Gillford Park club.
