Carlisle United fans were jubilant as they gave the News & Star their views on Twitter after the play-off semi-final victory over Bradford City.

Here is a selection of their comments.

For all the dross that has been served up over the last ten years, a game like today comes along and reminds us why we keep going. To experience that today was magical. One man has rescued our football club (@MartinCrellin1)

Fantastic. We were the better team after Bradford scored in the first leg and deserved the win. Every man a hero. Nothing better than a full Brunton Park. Next stop Wembley (@jimmydee78)

A fantastic performance. Credit to the players today, they embraced the big crowd, worked really hard and got what they deserved. Huntington outstanding and a real leader. I'm a proud Cumbrian tonight. One more push boys.... (@BenJoseph0157)

Simmo has got a lot right since he came back, but persuading Huntington to join the cause was a master stroke. Some good players that have gelled into a good team. What a day! All deserve Wembley and hopefully promotion. (@Snakeeyes7475)

Bradford didn’t look up for it. At all. Probably not as direct, aggressive or creative a performance as the away leg but didn’t need to be. Guy stepped up and the midfield was always controlled. Stressful but dictated the game. Just need to get frontline clicking for next week (@HYFPRW)

Wonderful performance, should have really won it in 90, made Bradford look very one-dimensional. I think they must have been a bit nervous with the big crowd. The whole team were brilliant, Wembley! Wembley… (@fish_blues)

Amazing! Best team won it over the two legs! Superb effort, showed character after being pegged back! For me, Moxon shoulder-barging one of the Bradford players in the last five mins typified the energy and desire from the team throughout the 120+ mins (@CowellLes1975)

Three years of rivalry and tight games against these lot, then finally put them to the sword when it really mattered. Carlisle never do it the easy way, but the pay-off is worth all the pain! (@mtuj1974)

Magnificent all round, fans park busy from 12, cracking atmosphere outside and the police escort and chanting when Bradford arrived set the tone. Unbelievable atmosphere, tension, joy and relief to get the win. As exhausted as the players, 10/10 for each player, one more game (@andrewhoddie)

Only just coming down to earth again. Is there anything better than a game like that today? It had everything. Some have never seen scenes like that at BP. This team - wow! Just when you thought they'd flat-lined, blown it, even they come back with a vengence and deserved it (@LindaNi121202)

We were as brilliant as they were naff. Great performance from all 15 players. Guy, Moxon, JK and Barclay will get the big plaudits but thought Whelan, Senior and Patrick all had brilliant contributions today. (@epouvantail)

Wow. What a result, what a game, what an atmosphere! Unreal. Wembley here we come. (@scholes_peter)

The better team for the vast majority of the tie, to even have to go through ET was an injustice. A team with so much character and heart. Get in! (@lewisrids3)

Great game. Fantastic atmosphere. A fair result. The only shadow on the horizon is can we keep hold of Moxon. (@BruceVander)

Glad I can type out my thoughts because I've got very little left in me to speak them! Got the early goal to leave the game on a knife edge, and thankfully we had enough to get it across the line. Que Sera Sera...(@Barney_CUFC)

A football club brings a city back into bloom. (@DaveScott1977)

Fully deserved (@prettygreen8)

Wembley! Wembley! (@jamesarnold97)

Over 15,000 in Brunton Park today. Some supporters. Some manager. Who knows where Carlisle United can go under Paul Simpson and with that backing? First stop: Wembley, then League One. (@1StevieKilner)

Awesome performance by every player pulling on that blue shirt but Huntington MoM for me, kept League Two's top scorer feeding on scraps all game...superb commitment and energy from every last one of them ('Wisey6575)

Thought we were done for when they scored as lots of players looked knackered. But subs gave us a bit of energy - Edmo and Omari gave us an outlet and the rest dug deep. No real scares towards the end - their attack looked ordinary. Fully deserved over two games. UTB!! (@j_michaelb)

Couple of wobbles but there’s no doubt we were the better team in both legs. If the Bradford  manager and his whingeing number two had spent less time trying to influence the fourth official and the match timekeeping they might have been more effective in helping their team. (@NotInSeddon)

The better side won over the two games. Sparky has been sparked out by Simmo! (@LEEROTHERHAM)

Absolute magic performance, thought JK Gordon was outstanding. Feared worst when they scored - oh no, pens - but thanks to Barclay, and brill cross from Moxy, put away ironically by man who got us to Wembley but can't play. What a crowd, over 15k...now come on you Blues, one more game. Simmo is king (@ericgreen866)

What a manager, what a team (@joeleigh95)
