Paul Simpson has issued a rallying cry to Carlisle United’s fans to bring the noise this weekend.

The Blues boss, whose side can strengthen their promotion push with another win against Grimsby Town, says the Brunton Park atmosphere can be all important.

Fans are being encouraged to bring flags to Saturday’s game to help create a vibrant and colourful atmosphere.

And Simpson says supporters cannot underestimate the value of getting down to Brunton Park in numbers – and noise.

“Let’s make Brunton Park a real noisy place,” he said.

“Let’s give ourselves a real fighting chance – firstly to generate more funds for the club to keep improving us, but also to give these players something to really go and perform in front of.”

Carlisle will be aiming for a third straight win this weekend when they take on the 16th-placed Mariners, who this week claimed a stunning FA Cup fifth round win at Premier League side Southampton.

The Blues, meanwhile, underlined their promotion potential with last Saturday’s 5-2 thrashing of struggling Crawley Town.

And Simpson wants his side to keep their foot to the floor.

“The big thing now is we’ve got to keep going,” the manager said.

“We’ve got another really important game, and we’ve got to be right and as ruthless as we were at Crawley.”

United’s boss has also reminded everyone that the Blues have not won anything yet.

Whilst he is delighted with their progress, the need for Simpson’s players to keep standards as high as possible during the run-in is clear.

“You don’t anything with 13 games to go, you have to go and finish it off,” Simpson said.

“The noises from them are we have to keep going.”
