Paul Simpson has paid tribute to Carlisle United’s fans as they prepare to make the long trip to AFC Wimbledon in big numbers.
The Cumbrians’ third-longest trip of the season sees a 662-mile round trip to south London.
But the Blue Army are heading to the Cherry Red Records Stadium en masse once again – with a near four-figure travelling support expected.
It is the latest demonstration of United’s backing on the road this season – and it is not lost on manager Simpson.
“It’s incredible. Absolutely brilliant,” he said.
“And we can't thank them enough for that, because it makes a big difference to the players.
“It has done when we've been on the road this season and this is the first of a run of really tough journeys for everybody.
“It makes it so much easier if you get performances and results. And that's what we're hoping happens this weekend.”
Simpson is checking on Owen Moxon’s fitness with the midfielder having missed training this week with a dead leg.
United’s boss hopes the Carlisle-born star will be fit enough to continue in Carlisle’s first-ever game at the Dons’ new Plough Lane ground.

If Moxon misses out, the likes of Jamie Devitt and Alfie McCalmont will be contenders to come in.
Simpson must also weigh up his attacking options with Kristian Dennis, JK Gordon, Joe Garner and Omari Patrick all pushing for starts.
Third-placed Carlisle could go four points clear of the play-off places if they win and fourth-placed Northampton Town slip up against Rochdale.
The Cobblers are a point behind the Blues ahead of today’s League Two action.
United are aiming to strengthen their promotion claims against Johnnie Jackson’s 13th-placed Dons – and Simpson says the backing of supporters will be vital to the bitter end.
“The message to the supporters, as well as a massive thank you, is also just a plea for them to stay with us,” he said.
“We've given them something to smile about for the first 29 games, and I hope we can give them a hell of a lot more to smile about in these last 17.
“Please keep it going and hopefully stay with us.”
