Rising Cumbrian goalkeeping star James Trafford has helped his club set a new record.

The Manchester City player, who is on loan with Bolton Wanderers, has kept eight consecutive home clean sheets for the League One club.

Not since early December have the Trotters conceded in a home game.

England Under-21 international Trafford, from Greysouthen, extended the current record sequence to eight with a shut-out in Bolton's 1-0 win over Cheltenham Town.

The current home run means Trafford has not conceded for 13 hours and 28 minutes at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Trafford has paid tribute to his team-mates for the remarkable run.

“It’s a group effort,” said the young Cumbrian.

“We like to limit as many chances as we can with the defenders winning headers and me coming for the through balls and trying to affect it.

“We’re doing really well, especially at home, and we’re all really pleased.

Trafford has made 33 appearances so far this season for the promotion-chasing Trotters, who sit fifth in League One.

He has kept 17 clean sheets overall in an impressive spell with Ian Evatt's side, where his team-mates include former Carlisle players Kyle Dempsey and Gethin Jones.

The former Blues academy kid, speaking in a club interview, added: "It hasn’t just been like one player has been the most instrumental.

“Everyone has helped and contributed massively. They’re all really good players, so it’s easy to adjust.”
