Barrow AFC boss Pete Wild has challenged in-form Carlisle United to “come after us” in tonight’s all-Cumbrian clash.

The Bluebirds are hoping to boost their play-off hopes with a positive result at Brunton Park.

And while United are strong on home soil – as well as being League Two’s leading scorers – Wild believes an attacking approach from the hosts could suit his side.

“We want them to come after us,” said Wild, speaking to BBC Cumbria.

“We certainly want to get after them, and show how we can hurt them, and we’re really looking forward to the game.”

Barrow start the evening in ninth after Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Northampton Town.

Whilst a draw or win would see Carlisle leapfrog the Cobblers into third place, Barrow are aiming to move back into the top seven tonight.

Wild says the challenge of taking on Paul Simpson’s high-fliers will be a good marker for his side.

“It’s another game for us,” added Wild in a club interview.

“I know the fans will build it up in every way they want, [but] it’s another game for us against a side that’s up at that top end of the table.

“It’s another chance for us to show how we can match it with the top teams and hopefully we’ll do that.”

Former Carlisle United men Paul Farman, Patrick Brough and Tom White could all be in the visiting line-up, with Richie Bennett also in the Bluebirds squad.
