Carlisle United contacted the EFL after the “very unsatisfactory” postponement at Bradford City last weekend.

Blues directors asked for the subject of inspections to be on the agenda at the league’s next meeting.

It followed the frustrating call-off at Valley Parade following a 12pm inspection.

That came at a time many of United’s big travelling support were on their way to west Yorkshire, with players and staff already there.

Chief executive Nigel Clibbens said the club “shared the fans’ frustrations at the lateness of the decision.”

“The referee [Will Finnie] was there on Friday and the pitch was considered playable apart from a small area which he thought would be ok by Saturday,” he added.

Clibbens said United were not informed about the Saturday inspection until their media staff had been contacted by Bradford.

This came after the team had already left Brunton Park, with the Blues saying they had “no inkling of a problem” until 9.45am.

Clibbens, according to supporters’ groups (CUSG) meeting minutes, “described the circumstances of the postponement as ‘very unsatisfactory’.”

The minutes added that the director “has contacted the EFL and asked for 'inspections' to be on the agenda for League Two clubs at their next online meeting.”

Bradford have been approached for comment.

Clibbens, meanwhile, has again commented on a “minority” of fans’ behaviour.

He said flares were a particular issue, but also said “objects thrown” and “chants” remained under scrutiny.

Andy Hall, the club’s media officer, told the CUSG meeting that “footage of some fans letting off flares in Skipton at the weekend [after the Bradford match postponement] had been circulating.

“He stressed again that this was a recurring problem that was not improving,” the minutes added.

United have added that they under further Football Association scrutiny over an incident at Tuesday’s game against Hartlepool United at Brunton Park.

They say referee Samuel Barrott reported the club after a vape was thrown towards the Hartlepool keeper and assistant, and collected from the pitch as they checked the nets at the Warwick Road End.

“This required a police and steward response behind the goal in the second half.

“The club has now been again asked to report back to the FA on crowd behaviour.”

Clibbens stressed that the support United are receiving from fans “remains brilliant.”

But he repeated an appeal for good behaviour, pointing out that the club have been subject to four investigations over incidents at games this season.
