Carlisle United star Owen Moxon has been shortlisted for an award - and fans can help him win it.

The city-born midfielder, from Denton Holme, is in the running to be named PFA Vertu Motors fans' player of the month for League Two.

Moxon is one of six players in the running for the December prize.

It further underlines the 24-year-old's impressive first season with his home-city club.

The midfielder shone last month as Paul Simpson's side climbed to fourth in the table.

He capped his December work with a goal in United's 3-0 victory at Crewe Alexandra on December 29 - his fourth for the club.

The former Annan Athletic star, who also claimed two assists during the month, is currently rated as League Two's top performing player this season by leading statistics website WhoScored.com.

His rivals for the December award include players from some of United's fellow promotion-chasers.

Northampton Town's Sam Hoskins is in the running along with Salford City's Matt Smith, Stevenage's Carl Piergianni and Stockport County pair Will Collar and Kyle Wootton.
