Carlisle United will hold a lunchtime pitch inspection ahead of this weekend's clash with Barrow AFC.

This Blues this morning confirmed that the match referee, Andrew Kitchen, will visit Brunton Park today.

It follows continued low temperatures.

United yesterday said their frost covers, which have been on the pitch all week, were currently "winning 1-0".

It now remains to be seen whether the surface has survived another sub-zero night, with temperatures dropping to -6 again in Carlisle.

On social media, the Blues wrote: "Following the continuing heavy overnight frost our club secretary has spoken to the match referee and he will be at Brunton Park at lunchtime to look at the playing surface."

United are due to take on Barrow at 1pm on Saturday.
