PAUL Simpson has slammed 'disrespectful' officials after the Walsall FA Cup defeat.

After the defeat at the Poundland Bescot Stadium, Paul Simpson had voiced his concerns about the way his staff were treated by the fourth official after the full-time whistle.

Despite advocating for his staff and players to move past the result on the outskirts of Birmingham, the Blues boss did emphasise the importance of respect in football.

He said: "It's gone, it's finished now, no doubt we'll come across him again at some point this season and we have just got to get on with it.

"I don't believe that I treat any of the officials with a lack of respect and I would just expect that back from them.

"Sadly we didn't get that last weekend."

Simmo also confirmed that he expected a response from the FA concerning the full-time scenes in Walsall but believed that the tone set by officials did not help matters.

He said: "There is going to be repercussions because of what happened at the end of the game with the massive confrontation and the mitigating circumstances that caused that.

"It doesn't often happen, I would probably say two or three times this season the fourth official has been very disrespectful, and not just to me, to other members of staff in the technical area and I just do not think it is acceptable.

"We're all really fortunate to be working in this game and I just think there needs to be a level of respect from everybody.
