Saturday saw an entertaining game at Brunton Park and although we didn’t win, the team showed real grit and desire to come back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with a Rochdale side, that until Saturday, had lost five of their opening six games, scoring only two goals.

We are starting to see that the team won’t be a pushover this season, so there are many grounds for optimism.

Not least the sight of a Jon Mellish overheard kick beating the Rochdale keeper and nestling in the back of the net for our first goal. Maybe we are on for another season of goals from the number 22, which will always be welcome in addition to the goals of Kris Dennis and others.

The league positions of some of the teams in League Two don’t necessarily fit with expectation at this point in the season, with Stevenage and Barrow sitting in the heady heights of second and third respectively - two teams who could easily have found themselves back in the National League this season, and Harrogate, a constant thorn in Carlisle’s side last season with the Blues suffering three straight defeats against the North Yorkshire outfit, languishing in 20th position.

Hopefully that gritty spirit we saw on Saturday against Rochdale, the amazing travelling support and the turn in fortunes of Harrogate will get us that much needed third win of the season to keep pace with the play off pack in League Two.

Next Tuesday sees the Blues back on the road again at Mansfield, before playing back at Brunton Park on September 17 where the CUOSC reps will once again be available to chat to in the Fanzone and Pioneer Stand concourse.

Supporters can sign up to be members, discuss issues, make suggestions and raise questions for the fan director to take to the board of Carlisle United.

We look forward to seeing you there to discuss all things Carlisle United and cheer on the Blues to another three points!

CUOSC board members are currently embarking on a range of developments relating to membership, communications and branding and will hopefully be able to share with the membership shortly.
