Former Carlisle United forward Harry McKirdy finally completed his on-off move to Hibernian from Swindon Town.

The attacker's move to the Scottish Premiership was confirmed this morning after appearing to be in doubt before the transfer deadline.

Reports suggested the 25-year-old's switch to Edinburgh was breaking down over the proposed fee.

But the move as resurrected and McKirdy will now play in Scotland's top flight, with the switch subject to FIFA approval and international clearance.

Hibs boss Lee Johnson told the club website: “We’re excited to bring Harry to Hibernian FC, and we’re delighted that he chose to come here after interest from several different clubs.

“Everyone can see how well he’s been performing over the last 12 months or so and he’s a player that’s coming into the prime years of his career.

“He’s someone that shows his pitch personality and has a real desire to keep on improving. Alongside this, he also gives us extra options in the forward areas being able to play centrally and out wide. We can’t wait to get started with him.”

Swindon posted a message this morning thanking McKirdy "for the goals, memories and great moments."

Carlisle's top scorer in the 2019/20 revived his career at Swindon after a forgettable spell at Port Vale in 2020/21.

He hit 24 goals last season as Swindon reached the League Two play-offs, though he has also courted controversy at times.

The frontman is currently serving a three-match ban for an FA rule break after storming into the officials' room and throwing a protein shake which covered the referee's change of clothes, following a dismissal against Salford City earlier this season.

He was also fined £1,500 over the incident.
