Rochdale have brought in former Barrow striker Scott Quigley ahead of their clash with Carlisle United.

The big frontman has joined League Two's bottom club on a season-long loan from Stockport County.

The ex-Barrow hitman, 29, could make his debut at Brunton Park on Saturday under new Dale boss Jim Bentley.

Speaking to the club website, he said: "I’m very excited. The move has come about quite quickly.

“The gaffer has only just arrived himself, but he’s a real positive bloke.

"I know a lot of people who know him and Chaddy [Nick Chadwick], and it was easy in the end to join them.

“I don’t think this team has really started yet, so once everything clicks, I think we’ll be talking about the other end of the table."

Manager Jim Bentley added: “Scott is a player I’ve always admired and have come close to signing previously.

“He’s had a couple of successful seasons and during his last full season at this level he had a very good goals return.

“He’s big and strong, experienced, mobile and has a good work ethic. I’m sure he will give us something different in the attacking areas.

“I’m really pleased he’s on board and I’m sure he will be a player the fans will get behind and enjoy watching.”

Quigley impressed in his time at Barrow with 35 league goals in two seasons, his efforts instrumental in the Bluebirds' promotion to the Football League in 2020.

He hit 15 in their first campaign back in the EFL before moving on to Stockport, wh he helped to promotion last season.
