Paul Simpson says he does not expect players to leave Carlisle United before the deadline – despite fielding enquiries from some clubs.

Manager Simpson wants to keep his squad intact as next Thursday’s deadline day looms.

The Blues boss said the interest in some of his players has not been “serious” so far.

And the United boss hopes it remains that way with six days left of the summer window.

“There’s been a couple of calls but the truth is I’m not prepared to let any of them go that’s there’s been enquiries about,” Simpson said.

Carlisle’s manager says he is not anticipating bringing in any more players.

He added: “That’s the only way that will change [if anything happens with our own squad.

“Surprising [things] happen, but I’m not expecting anything because we’re in a position where we don’t have to sell.

“Nobody is knocking on my door saying, ‘I want to go’ and they’re not happy.

“As long as that’s case we’ll try and keep everybody together.”

Simpson has made a string of signings in recent weeks and has confirmed that his summer recruitment efforts are effectively complete.

“We’re not looking to be bringing anybody else in,” he said.

“There are two sides to it – we’re not in a position on the financial side of it because we’ve spent now, brought more players in than I probably expected to, and our hand has been forced a bit because of injuries.

“The other side is when everybody’s fit I’m happy with what we’ve got – I think we’re in a good position.

“It’s not a finished group but it’s a group I feel is ready to go for this next part of the season to take us up to January, and then we’ll reassess and see where we need to strengthen and change it around then.”
