Former Carlisle United winger David Amoo has joined their League Two rivals Stevenage.

Steve Evans, whose side beat the Blues on Saturday, has snapped up the 31-year-old.

Amoo left Port Vale at the end of last season and now returns to the fourth tier at the Lamex Stadium.

Stevenage is the latest club in the career of the well-travelled attacker, who was part of the Vale squad that earned promotion to League One via the play-offs last season.

His campaign with the Valiants included a goal in their 3-1 win at Brunton Park in February - which remains his most recent first-team strike.

He had three years with Port Vale, having previously been on the books of Cambridge United and Partick Thistle.

Before that, he spent two seasons with Carlisle, making 79 appearances and scoring 16 goals under Greg Abbott, Graham Kavanagh and Keith Curle.

The pacy wide man started out at Liverpool and, after loan spells with MK Dons, Hull and Bury, had permanent stints with Preston North End and Tranmere Rovers before joining the Blues in 2013.

He could make his Stevenage debut on Tuesday night in their Carabao Cup second round tie against Peterborough United.

Another return to Brunton Park for the forward will come on March 18 when Stevenage visit Cumbria next year.
