Carlisle United manager Paul Simpson has reassured supporters that the club have 'plenty going on in the background' when it comes to new signings.

The Blues have thus far added two new faces to their ranks, with Owen Moxon and Tomas Holy both joining on free transfers.

Those deals will only represent the start of a significant summer rebuild, with Simpson looking to build a squad capable of improving upon last season's 20th place finish.

And while there may only have been a pair of completed deals announced to date, the Carlisle boss has assured fans that the club remain hard at work ahead of their return to pre-season training on June 22.

“My idea is to get a spine of a team that I’m comfortable with," he said, speaking to the club's official website.

"The keeper is part of that spine, and I have situations going on with two other areas through that spine which hopefully over the next week or two will come to fruition.

“I’d like them to be finalised by 22 June, because I’d like them to be in place.

"The one thing I will say to the fans on this is that even though it could look as if nothing is happening, believe me we have plenty going on in the background.

“It’s a cliché but we have plates spinning, we’re keeping things going and we’re hopeful that we’ll be in a position over the next few weeks to give everybody even more good news.”
