Former Carlisle United coach Nathan Rooney has gone viral after getting married.

The 32-year-old married Liverpool FC Women star Rhiannon Roberts last week and, given the pair's footballing connections, it was perhaps little surprise that an impromptu match kicked-off at the reception.

And a video of Roberts, in her full bridal attire, netting a goal after a slick one-two with Liverpool teammate Jasmine Matthews has now been shared across the globe.

It's been picked-up by the likes of the BBC and ESPN - as well as Roberts' own club.

Rooney - who can be seen in the background of the video - spent a brief spell with the Blues in 2019 under Steven Pressley, before returning to Fleetwood Town after the appointment of Chris Beech.

He later went on to join Port Vale and is currently managing FC Bruno's Magpies in Gibraltar.
