After starring north of the border, Cumbrian midfielder Owen Moxon has returned to his home city to sign for Carlisle United.

The 24-year-old has left Annan Athletic to agree a two-year deal at Brunton Park.

It ends a five-year spell at Galabank where Moxon has impressed under the management of Blues legend Peter Murphy.

Moxon was named in the Scottish League Two team of the season and player of the year at Annan after a fine 2021/22 campaign.

His exploits during the season included this excellent free-kick in a Scottish Cup clash with Clydebank...

Moxon's excellent midfield showings helped keep Annan in the promotion picture all season. Here's another well-taken goal against future champions Kelty Hearts:

The 24-year-old is known for his shooting prowess from distance - demonstrated again here against Stranraer...

Moxon's keenness to get forward was also on show when he finished off this move in the Scottish Cup against Jeanfield Swifts

And here he is again showing his dead-ball ability with an early special at Elgin City

It's no wonder the Cumbrian caught the eye of admirers in 2021/22 with this sort of shooting ability - a fine strike last August against Stranraer.

Nor does he mind taking aim from closer-range too - an example being this clinical finish from an indirect free-kick against future play-off foes Edinburgh City.
