Carlisle United will take on Cumbrian sides Penrith, Kendal Town and Workington Reds in their first pre-season friendlies of the summer.

The Blues have confirmed their opening warm-up games ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Paul Simpson's side will start their programme of pre-season fixtures at Frenchfield Park against Northern League Division One side Penrith on Friday, July 1 at 7pm.

That game comes nine days after the United squad return for pre-season training.

Six days later, Carlisle head to south Cumbria to take on Kendal on Wednesday, July 6 at 7.30pm.

The following Saturday, July 9, it will be a reunion for the Blues with former captain Danny Grainger, when they take on his NPL West Workington team at Borough Park.

Carlisle say ticket prices for the trio of local games will be confirmed in due course.

And the Blues will arrange further friendlies in the build-up to the new season kick-off on the weekend of July 30.
