Former Carlisle United defender Richard Keogh has extended his stay in the Championship.

The experienced centre-half is staying at Blackpool after the club exercised an option in his contract.

The extension sees Keogh remain at Bloomfield Road for the 2022/23 season.

Keogh made 31 appearances for the Seasiders last term as Neil Critchley's side finished 16th in the second tier.

The 35-year-old joined the club last summer after spells with Huddersfield Town and MK Dons.

He is one of seven players with whom Blackpool have exercised contract options, the others being Keshi Anderson, Ewan Bange, Josh Bowler, Brad Holmes, Stuart Moore and
Jordan Thorniley.

Keogh - who made 95 appearances for Carlisle from 2007-10 - is one of three ex-Blues at Blackpool, along with Gary Madine and Jerry Yates.
