Carlisle United fans were in very positive spirits after last night's 2-0 win over Rochdale in Paul Simpson's Brunton Park homecoming.

Here is a selection of their views on the game when they gave us their verdict on Twitter.

I'm bouncing. Up against it tonight but who cares. Well done to everyone. (@scholes_peter)

I would urge all Blues to think how good it felt when that second goal went in, that is what supporting a team is all about. Back three and Howard outstanding, up the Blues (@matty017)

Absolutely beautiful. Work rate excellent. All we can ask for. A win is a win! (@LEEROTHERHAM)

Back three, keeper and Patrick were outstanding, we are still a work in progress for sure, but it’s reassuring to see the passion and the work rate throughout the team. Still a long way to go, but things are looking a little less bleak tonight! (@Halpinforpope)

A real team performance. Everyone contributed and worked hard for each other. Rochdale looked a good side but we stood up well. Feeney was outstanding, reminds me of Livesey in his prime with some of the committed blocks. Mellish and Simeu deserve a mention too. So much better. (@BenJoseph0157)

Application, determination, organisation , commitment and just a little bit of well earned fortune saw us through against good opponents. (@Glass942)

Grit, determination and finally playing as a united team. To a man everyone did their job tonight and it showed. (@tracy_sturgess)

Some good individual performances and it felt they all really wanted it, tackles, blocks, team spirit, and without doubt the fantastic support helped! Can’t wait for Oldham, let’s keep it going! Thanks lads! (@mancumbrianmike)

Centre three in defence were class. Hard to pick a MOM for a good reason for once. Questions asked why the same guys couldn't do the same under two other managers. Give them a day off tomorrow they deserve it (@Stuart47912160)

Proper hearty win that, genuinely feel the players on the pitch and playing for that shirt and badge!! Simeu’s turnaround in form is phenomenal, Feeney and Mellish absolutely love defending and throwing everything they’ve got in front of the ball!! (@OllyWiiseman)

Our former manager said that we can't defend. That was heart and soul tonight. Rochdale played some cracking football but they couldn't break us down. Two wins and two clean sheets. What a difference a week makes! (@3ddiew)

Great entertainment, excitement, another win, another clean sheet. What more could we ask for? Same again on Saturday? Simmo is working his magic again, and all of a sudden there is light at the end of the tunnel. (@peterjo91525330)

If Simmo had been here the beginning of January we would have made the play-offs. Tonight I thought the whole team were brilliant (@GeoffRo39583097)

Brunton Park has not felt so good all season as it did tonight (@topsandollie)

Weathered the storm. Looked confident. Played a decent side, still a bit to do but hopefully brighter days ahead. (@canoeblue)

That’s the first time in a long, long time I’ve stayed back at full-time and clapped each and every player off the park. The determination, the desire, the effort all in evidence tonight - from flinging bodies into blocks in defence to Sho-Silva’s chase down for goal two....great night (@cufc_andy17)

A bit nervy at times but very well done to every-one - great result and the good times are back for now. Thought the defence were very good and we just need a bit more composure - it's hard to believe these are the same players who played Swindon. (@timgv123)

Brilliant! We ground it out against a good Rochdale side but we never gave in. Wonderful to watch such determination and desire. The second goal was typical of the performance - guts, fight and we saw it through. Some huge performances! Loved it! I went crackers when the second went in! (@fish_blues)

The desire and passion were present in the squad. Still needs some work but going in the right direction. (@richards_avril)

Incredible win, incredible last two games! Fantastic performance from so many of the lads, haven’t been this excited since before our Covid break so it’s nice (Luke_Graham_)

Paul Simpson’s Blues. Absolutely buzzing with that. (@Matt_Suddart)

What a performance from back to front. Simeu was brilliant, best game he has had for us. We took the goals well at key moments of the match. We deservedly won. Great atmosphere and great support. C'mon you Blues. (@Playbytherulz)

What a difference from the last home game, a game plan, players in the correct places, desire from the players, atmosphere was brilliant, let’s hope Simmo can keep working his magic for the next few games and pull away from the drop zone (@andrewhoddie)

Far better team performance than few weeks ago. Effort and commitment for the whole game. Second goal was a huge one as we seemed to be hanging on. Bit worried how easily Rochdale passed it through us but Simmo is going to keep us up (tim_martland)

Howard, Simeu, Feeney and Mellish outstanding. Patrick and Dennis a good outlet all game. What a goal from Sho-Silva. (@parkinsonross)

Hard work and commitment will get us out of this. Saw that tonight. (@paddockblue)

First time I've dared watch for a while rather than listen, and was pleased to see positivity around the pitch once we survived the initial onslaught. The Sho-Silva goal was the fairy dust that we've been missing all season, and what an assist from Jon Mellish! (@JHallHDI)

We now look a team. Backing eachother up, throwing bodies on the line. That's all we ask. What a feeling at the end. (@RyCUFC)

Only 19 points off the playoffs (@dougrmurphy)

We’re not perfect and Howard saved us a few times but overall positive, we battled hard tonight…can’t remember the last time I left Brunton Park with a huge smile on my face (@KyleDixon30)

Next - let’s out-Sheridan Sheridan. (@NotInSeddon)

Aye it was alright I suppose...(@JRBulman)
