Harry McKirdy taunted Carlisle United's fans after his starring role in Swindon Town's win against his former club.

The visiting frontman had a field day against the Blues, scoring the opener and setting up the next two in Carlisle's 3-0 defeat.

The 24-year-old relished his involvement in sending United into the League Two relegation zone, celebrating each goal in front of the home fans.

And McKirdy, who was booed by Blues fans during the game, continued his mockery of the Cumbrians on social media after the game.

The forward, who played for Carlisle in the 2019/20 season, posted an infamous photo of Manchester City's Emmanuel Adebayor celebrating in front of baying Arsenal fans in 2009.

Underneath, he wrote: "VAMOSSS 3 ******* ZIP.

"Goal. 2 assists. 3 points for the Chels and 3,000 crying Carlisle fans.

"Propa ******* genius. Thanks for the reception."

Another post saw McKirdy tell United fans "if you need cheering up, check the table".

McKirdy had a chequered relationship with United's fans during his season in Cumbria, which saw him top score with 11 goals.

After being released, he spent last season on the margins at Port Vale - but has reignited his career at Swindon, scoring 15 goals in 33 appearances so far this campaign.

His exploits at Brunton Park sent Ben Garner's team into the play-off places in seventh - while his former employers fell to second bottom.

Head coach Garner said McKirdy's opener was a "brilliant finish".

He also claimed Swindon could have won by more.

"I thought we were the better side in the first half going in at 1-0, and it possibly could have been 2-0," he said to the Swindon Advertiser. "We had a great spell at the start of the second half, and we get the second and third goal.

“We possibly could have had one or two more there at the end."
