A RUGBY match in Workington has been called off due to high winds affecting the safety of play.
Workington Town RLFC's match against Halifax Panthers was due to take place at Derwent Park this afternoon, however strong winds and a yellow weather warning have forced officials to postpone the fixture.
A spokesman for the club said: "Unfortunately the match against Halifax has been called off.
"The Ground Safety Officer has made the call due to increasing wind speed and the yellow warning in place for the rest of the day. A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course."
