Keith Millen says Carlisle United have received positive news on the injury to Kelvin Mellor.
The defender does not need surgery on his ankle injury, a scan has revealed.
Mellor is still set for a spell on the sidelines but the problem is not as serious as feared.
“He had the scan and report from it on Friday morning and it was good news, in that he doesn’t need surgery,” manager Millen said.
“That’s great for him, but he’s still going to be out for a long time
“The main thing is that he doesn’t need an operation. I spoke to him on Friday and he’ll be coming in [today] to see the lads.”
Also on the injury front, Millen gave an update on the fitness of loan keeper Lukas Jensen, who has been out since November with a wrist injury.
The manager said: “He’s been back at [parent club] Burnley, so we haven’t seen him, but as far as I know he’s back in training and he’s fit.
“We’re talking to Burnley to see what the best steps forward are for him to get some game time.”
