Former Carlisle United loan star Regan Slater is poised to seal a permanent departure from Sheffield United.

The midfielder is expected to join Hull City, the club where he enjoyed a loan spell last season.

Slater, who was with United in the 2018/19 campaign, will end his long association with the Blades by moving to Humberside.

Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom told The Star: "Things are moving. "He was close to going there in the summer and it would have been good for him.

“I’ve spent a lot of time with Regan and his application has always been first class. In all honesty, he wants to get his career rolling. Hull are close.”

It has been reported this morning that Slater is set to undergo a medical at Hull, who are 19th in the Championship.

The hard-working midfielder, 22, made 41 appearances for the Blues under John Sheridan and Steven Pressley in the 2018/19 season.

His most memorable display was a two-goal showing in a 4-0 victory at Swindon Town in November 2018.

After returning to Bramall Lane from a season-long loan, he had a further temporary stint at Scunthorpe United in 2019/20, before making 34 appearances for Hull last season.
