Zach Clough has added to Carlisle United’s injury woes with the attacker set for weeks on the sidelines.

Clough missed last night’s defeat at Mansfield having been substituted in the first half of Saturday’s FA Cup loss to Shrewsbury.

And, on a night when captain Callum Guy also suffered an injury, manager Keith Millen said Clough won’t be available in the short term.

“Zach’s going to be out for a few weeks,” he said.

“He’s got a problem with his calf – it’s an old injury that’s flared up again. He’s going to be a few weeks.”

Guy, meanwhile, went off in the second half at the One Call Stadium.

The midfielder tried to play on after treatment but Millen said the Blues did not want to take any chances with the problem.

“With Callum, it was precautionary,” Millen said.

“He felt his groin – he wanted to carry on, he was outstanding again for us, but I didn’t want to make it worse.

“I was hoping getting him off early might save any future problems. We’ll have to wait and see in the next couple of days on that one.”

United will now assess Guy in the build-up to Saturday’s trip to Stevenage, and hope their ranks are not further depleted by the loss of another key player.

One player who has returned to availability is goalkeeper Magnus Norman.

He was in the squad at Mansfield for the first time since early October, having recovered from a leg injury.
