Forest Green Rovers boss Rob Edwards says his team must be wary of a Carlisle United side who could be a "wounded animal" today.

The League Two leaders are hoping to continue their impressive start to the season at Brunton Park this afternoon.

But head coach Edwards expects Chris Beech's Blues to be desperate to produce a good performance in light of their thrashing at Sutton last weekend.

"It's dangerous - they've had a disappointing result last time out, so they're maybe a slightly wounded animal," Edwards said.

"They'll be wanting to bounce back and at home they've been strong this season.

"They have got good players. We've identified that and prepared for that. We know...or we expect what to come.

"But we've done well so far this season with whatever has been thrown at us.

"We've prepared for some things and teams have changed it for whatever reason, and the lads work it out and solve problems really well."

Forest Green did the double over Carlisle last season, and have started this season superbly, with 20 points from nine games.

That puts them four points clear at the top, while United are hoping to improve on their 17th position.

While the New Lawn outfit have yet to lose away from home, Carlisle are unbeaten at Brunton Park in 11 games.

Former Wolves coach Edwards, who took charge in May, told his club's YouTube channel: "Maybe the travelling is something they [Carlisle] can use to their advantage, when a lot of teams have to travel a long way to get there.

"It's a tough place to go, this - but hopefully they'll feel with us coming, it's a difficult game for them."
