Blyth Spartans' ex-Carlisle United and Workington Reds keeper's timewasting goes viral

Ex-Blues youth No1 Alex Mitchell was in no hurry to get the game going as his Blyth Spartans side led against FC United of Manchester.

And footage of the 30-year-old engaging in what has been fondly described as ****housery has become a social media hit.

Mitchell is seen winding up the home fans by throwing the ball back into the crowd, then turning his back on it when it's hurled back towards him.

When an FC United player hurries forward to place the ball for a goal kick, Mitchell then further enrages the home supporters by moving it to the other end of his six-yard box.

FC United fans respond with some choice chants aimed at the Carlisle-born No1.

Blyth went on to win the second qualifying round game 2-0 thanks to two goals from another ex-United player, Connor Thomson.

Mitchell was an Under-18 player at Carlisle and was part of the side that famously knocked Manchester United out of the FA Youth Cup in 2008.

He has also played for Gretna, Workington Reds and Annan Athletic, making more than 150 appearances for the Galabank club before joing Blyth this summer.
