He has wasted no time in making his mark whilst on loan away from Carlisle United.

Sam Fishburn, 17, has hit five goals in two games for Lancaster City.

The striker followed his two-goal debut against Witton Albion with an impressive hat-trick for the Dolly Blues at Grantham Town on Saturday.

His treble, in a 7-2 victory in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, included a very stylish opening goal...

Fishburn was assisted by left-back Liam Brockbank, the former Carlisle youth player and ex-Workington Reds player who joined the Giant Axe club this summer.

Teenage forward Fishburn, after that first-half equaliser against a club managed by former England player Carlton Palmer, added two more after the break as Mark Fell's side ran riot.

It marked an eyecatching start to life in non-league for the young Blues pro, who has been sent out on loan to get some important first-team experience.

Manager Fell, speaking through his club's channels after the game, said of Fishburn: "He should have had five, he missed a one v one...

"He's an excellent young player, and what he's done is fitted into our group very well.

"I don't want to single out Sam just because he got the match ball, but fair play to him.

"We've struggled getting a No9 at Lancaster who scored goals, I've been told, but he's got five in two - not a bad start for him."
