Former Carlisle United midfielder Gary Dicker has made a move to the Premier League.

The experienced player has rejoined his former club Brighton.

The Sussex side say Dicker will play as an over-age player in their under-23 squad.

It will see the 34-year-old mentor the club's younger players whilst also taking on some coaching duties.

Dicker was previously with Brighton from 2009-13, and later went on to spend 18 months with the Cumbrians from 2014-16.

He recently left Kilmarnock and has now returned south.

Brighton's technical director Dan Ashworth told the club's website that Dicker "stood out" for the "mentoring" role in their Under-23s "because of his links to the club, his interest in coaching and because he’s still got a lot to offer as a player, both in terms of what he can bring to the team and the positive influence he can have on the other players."

Dicker added: "I’m absolutely delighted to have been given this opportunity, which I think is perfect for me. I was honoured to be asked.

“I believe I can be a good influence with the young players on the pitch by passing on my experience and being an important part of the team while learning more about coaching from the great coaches there are at the club."

Dicker made 50 Carlisle appearances, scoring one goal - against Plymouth in the 2-0 win that sealed the Blues' Football League safety in 2015.
