Jordan Pickford admits it would be the “pinnacle” to win Euro 2020 with England - as the Three Lions bid to take a big step closer to glory tonight.

The former Carlisle United goalkeeper is aiming for another successful outing as Gareth Southgate’s side face Ukraine in Rome for a place in the last four.

Pickford has starred so far with four clean sheets in consecutive games.

And the Everton No1 says it would be the ultimate achievement to help his team-mates to an incredible tournament finale.

“There’d be nothing better for me than to win a medal with England,” says Pickford, who was on loan at Brunton Park from Sunderland in 2014.

“Personal stuff, that takes care of itself. Keep performing for England and keeping those clean sheets is a bonus. To win a medal with England would be the pinnacle.”

England will face Denmark or the Czech Republic in a Wembley semi-final if they overcome Andriy Shevchenko’s side tonight (kick-off 8pm).

Head coach Southgate said: “This is now a fantastic challenge for us.”

The Three Lions boss added on the Official England podcast: “We’ve got to go away from Wembley, into a potentially quite hot climate, hardly any England fans in the stadium, and maybe a not particularly full crowd full stop.

“We have watched Ukraine over the last year or so but of course not many of them are playing in the Bundesliga or the English Premier League. There’s obviously a couple who are.

“And then there is this perception that all we’ve got to do is turn up, and we are on our way. We’re very clear now that the total focus is on Saturday.

“We have to prepare the game in the right way, and our mentality is critical.”
