Jordan Pickford says he takes pride in the "resilience" that has brought successive clean sheets for England ahead of tonight's clash with the Czech Republic.

Everton's former Carlisle United loan keeper has contributed to the Three Lions' four-point start from their first two Euro 2020 Group D games.

England are already assured of a last-16 place, but victory would ensure Gareth Southgate's side top the group.

While England's attacking players came in for criticism after Friday's 0-0 draw with Scotland, Pickford turned in a solid goalkeeping display.

That followed his shut-out in the 1-0 opening win over Croatia.

"Keeping two clean sheets out of two...that's the target, keeping as many as [I] can to give us the best opportunity to get the win," said Pickford, speaking to England's official 'Diary Room'.

"It's like a striker scoring goals. We [goalkeepers] want clean sheets.

"The biggest thing is having that resilience in goal, helping your team-mates have the best opportunity to win the game."

Pickford, who played 18 games for Carlisle in the 2013/14 season whilst on loan from Sunderland, also spoke of the "amazing feeling" and "buzz" of playing for the national side whether at home or away.

Southgate's side return to Wembley against a Czech side who beat Scotland 2-0 in their opening game before drawing with Croatia, giving them a slight goal difference edge over England going into tonight's game.

The other game this evening sees Scotland seeking victory over Croatia to keep their own qualification hopes alive. Both those sides are on one point.

Pickford says England "need to deal with the expectation" that comes with playing in front of the expectant Three Lions fans.

"We're in control of the group," he said. "Everyone who comes to watch us wants us to win, but you can't win every football match - it's about how you deal with those situations and move onto the next one.

"If we can beat the Czech Republic we'll top the group - that's what it's about."
