He has wasted no time in making his mark after returning from a two-month injury absence.

Cumbrian star Ben Stokes was back in action for Durham today - and in some style.

The England hero made 29 from 18 balls in the Vitality Blast T20 game against Birmingham Bears in Durham's total of 185/4.

And the Cockermouth all-rounder then showed off his brilliant skills in the field.

He pulled off an outstanding catch to dismiss Ed Pollock off the bowling of Brydon Carse, with Stokes' club showing footage of the spectacular moment:

Stokes took a further catch and claimed one wicket for 20 from his four overs as Durham earned a 22-run victory.

It came in Stokes' first game since he broke a finger fielding for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL in April.

Stokes, 30, is taking his first steps back ahead of an eventual return to England action.

He sat out the recent New Zealand Test series as he recovered from the injury, and has not been included in England's squad for this month's one-day international series against Sri Lanka.

A one-day series against Pakistan follows in July, followed by the Test series against India which gets under way in August.
