Two more ex-Carlisle United players are looking for new clubs.

Both Alex Gilliead and Olufela Olomola are on the market after leaving the Blues' fellow League Two outfit Scunthorpe United.

The former United loanees are among 17 players leaving the Iron at the end of their contracts.

It is part of a major clearout at the club who finished third bottom after a poor campaign.

Striker Olomola leaves after three years at the north Lincolnshire club.

The 23-year-old made just 12 appearances for Scunny in that time, and had more joy from loan spells with both Yeovil and Carlisle.

He was with the Cumbrians in the 2019/20 season, scoring six goals in 33 appearances, while his time at Scunthorpe has also been hit by injury.

Gilliead, meanwhile, sees a two-year spell with the Iron come to an end.

The 25-year-old, Scunthorpe said, had turned down a new contract offer back in January.

Now he departs the Sands Venue Stadium.

Gilliead was with Carlisle in the 2015/16 season, making 41 appearanecs in a loan spell from Newcastle.

After further loans with Luton and Bradford, he joined Shrewsbury permanently before 2019's switch to Scunthorpe.

United, meanwhile, are expected to confirm their own retained and released list soon.
