Danny Devine is back on the training ground as he steps up his return for Carlisle United.

The midfielder has been out since December with a knee injury.

But both the 23-year-old and fellow sidelined player Morgan Feeney are hoping to be back in action in the coming weeks.

Head coach Chris Beech said: "Hopefully we’ll see them before this month’s out but we’ll have to wait and see on how well the next stages of tier recovery go.

"Danny’s in front of Morgan, he’s back running.

"They are two young and very hungry players and we want them all available as quickly as possible.

"It’s a big month, there’s eight fixtures left in it, so it’s a great month to attack."

Devine suffered the injury just as he had made a bright impact after coming into the Blues' midfield.

Luckless former Sunderland Everton defender Feeney, meanwhile, broke his foot in training soon after signing in January.

The Blues boss was forced into one change in midfield for Tuesday’s defeat at Colchester, Dean Furman making his first start since December,as Callum Guy remained with his partner Abbie as they prepare for the arrival of their second child.
