Former Carlisle United forward Harry McKirdy has been made available for transfer by the Blues' League Two rivals Port Vale.

Last season's United top scorer has struggled to hold down a first-team place at Vale Park this season.

And Valiants boss John Askey has confirmed that McKirdy could now move on.

Speaking to the Sentinel, Askey said both McKirdy and Theo Robinson - who were left out of the squad for last night's draw with Bradford - were being made available in the January transfer window.

Askey said: “Yes, they are available. With only being able to have 22 in your squad then you have to do that. Normally you would look to bring players in and not have to think about that.”

McKirdy has made nine appearances and just one league start since his summer move to Vale Park, having been released by the Blues.

The 23-year-old has scored twice for Vale, both in the Papa John's Trophy, having netted 11 times for the Cumbrians last season.
