I wonder how many Blues fans missed our ‘Great Escape’ in the FA Cup last Sunday.

Two goals down with three minutes of extra-time to go and with the BBC iPlayer freezing again it was tempting to switch off and call it a day.

It’s likely some supporters will have been shocked, later, to find out that it wasn’t non-league Hayes &Yeading who went through to the next round but us.

Those that stuck with iPlayer were rewarded - although it wasn’t good for the blood pressure.

By the time the picture returned Jon Mellish had already pulled a goal back. He then grabbed a last-gasp equaliser and we went on to win a nervy penalty shoot-out.

Sometimes last-ditch wins like this form the base of a long cup run – so here’s hoping.

We have been handed a tough second round draw against League One Doncaster - but you never know. For a change we are at home and head coach Chris Beech and the team will fancy their chances.

Remember, even though you cannot attend games at Brunton Park you can still be there in spirit. ‘Face in the Crowd’ has brought a variety of faces into the Pioneer Stand. We have fans - past and present - current players, legends and even family pets.

It might make a great Christmas present for a family member or friend. And it is a chance to support the team and help the club with profits going into CUOSC’s Carlisle REUnited fund.

The cost is £25. To find out more or to order go to: https://www.faceinthecrowd.store and click on Carlisle United.

CUOSC is holding a members meeting on zoom today when there will be another chance to question our board. It will start at 7pm and if you would like to attend email info@cuosc.org.uk

We are also trying to help you beat those lockdown blues by bringing back our popular quiz – ‘Be Just and Quiz On.’ It is a great chance to test your Carlisle United knowledge. The quiz will return on Monday and you can follow it live on CUOSC’s Facebook page from 8pm.
