Chris Beech does not expect Forest Green to change their style despite their own busy period in the transfer market.

United tonight face Mark Cooper’s side for the fourth time this season.

The League Two clash at the New Lawn follows a goalless league draw at Brunton Park in September, a 2-2 away draw in the FA Cup second round in November and a 1-0 home replay win last month thanks to Aaron Hayden’s first Blues goal.

While United have picked up five signings so far this month, Cooper made three additions last Friday with Conrad Logan, Odin Bailey and Rob Hall all starting in their 2-1 defeat at Macclesfield.

Beech, who remains on the trail of more additions, says the Nailsworth outfit should remain familiar opponents in style if not all their personnel.

Asked if United could expect anything different from their three previous meetings in 2019/20, the Blues boss said: “It’s possible, because they recruited three players [on Friday].

“I know [keeper] Conrad Logan, we recruited him at Rochdale.

"But they’ll play similar I would imagine.

"They’re not gonna change, because Coops has been doing this for five or six years.”

Beech, whose first game in charge of Carlisle was the 2-2 FA Cup draw at the New Lawn in November, insisted United’s unbeaten record against Forest Green this term “guarantees nothing”.

He said the Blues must "earn the right" to win as they did against Walsall on Saturday.

Having been early-season high-fliers, Forest Green have dipped to ninth after a period of inconsistent form.

They have won just twice in their last 11 – similar to 21st-placed Carlisle – but while United have picked up four points from their last two games, Cooper’s side have suffered back-to-back defeats.

They are just two points outside the play-off places, but have also won just one of their last eight home fixtures.

Carlisle have not lost in any of their four previous visits to the Gloucestershire club.

Cooper, meanwhile, has admitted his side have not taken enough opportunities in recent games.

After their defeat at Macclesfield, he said on the club website: “We’ve had so many opportunities to win games and not took them and then lost points because psychologically, we’re in a bad place, because we know we’re missing chances.

“It only takes a bit of luck to get a goal. We should be winning that game four or five-nil, without being disrespectful to Macclesfield.”

There is a full programme of League Two fixtures tonight with United, seven points off the bottom, hoping to move further away from relegation trouble.

Bottom side Stevenage go to 19th-placed Grimsby and second-bottom Morecambe are at Walsall. Macclesfield, 22nd, visit Newport, and fifth-bottom Oldham go to 18th-placed Mansfield.
