A last-gasp Crewe equaliser denied Macclesfield the chance to leapfrog Carlisle United in the League Two relegation battle.
The Silkmen looked set to send the Blues down to third bottom after Paul Green’s first-half own-goal.
But Crewe earned a 1-1 draw deep into stoppage time through Callum Ainley.
The draw at Moss Rose kept Macclesfield 22nd, a place and a point below the Cumbrians having now played the same number of games as Chris Beech's side.
The result came in the week that Macc were hit with another EFL charge over failing to stage a recent game against Plymouth.
They have already been docked six points this season with another four suspended.
United remain four points above bottom side Morecambe and second-bottom Stevenage.
Elswhere in League Two, Keith Curle's Northampton remained sixth after a 1-1 draw at 19th-placed Leyton Orient.
Play-off rivals Colchester and Bradford, seventh and fifth respectively, played out a goalless draw in Essex.
