Carlisle United have tonight been handed an away FA Cup second-round tie against League Two leaders Forest Green Rovers.
Mark Cooper’s men, who earned their place in round two by beating National League South side Billericay Town 4-0 on Saturday, stand between the Blues and a potentially lucrative third-round match, with all Premier League and Championship clubs set to enter the competition in the next round.
While Forest Green are top of the table, with United 13 points behind in 19th place, the two teams did play out a goalless draw when they last met at Brunton Park in September in the league.
Since the Nailsworth outfit gained promotion to the EFL in 2017, United have met Forest Green twice at the New Lawn, picking up results on both occasions.
In December 2017, Richie Bennett, now at Port Vale, scored the only goal in a 1-0 Carlisle victory, while the two sides drew 1-1 in March with United's Nathan Thomas cancelling out Reece Brown's opener.
Carlisle booked their spot in the second round with a 4-1 win at Dulwich Hamlet on Friday, with the tie televised live on BBC Two.
Elsewhere in the draw, conducted by Mark Chapman, ex-England international striker Dion Dublin and former Crystal Palace man Mark Bright, National League South side Maidstone United were handed an away draw against League One side Blackpool.
There will also be £54,000 in prize-money on offer.
All FA Cup ties are due to be played between November 29 and December 2.
