A second-half comeback saw Carlisle United’s Under-18s come from two goals behind to beat Salford 3-2 and progress into the second round of the FA Youth Cup.

At the Peninsula Stadium tonight in front of 249 fans, Eric Kinder’s team were 1-0 down at half-time after Ethan Rhodes had broken the deadlock.

The young Blues then fell further behind shortly after the restart when Rhodes added his second for Salford.

But Carlisle responded quickly with Whitehaven-born midfielder Taylor Charters, who signed a two-year professional contract this August, on target.

United levelled, with their second goal scored by Lewis Bell.

And Carlisle completed the turnaround six minutes from time when captain Tom Wilson netted with a powerful header.

United's Under-18s are next in action at home to Preston this Saturday.
