Border City ABC are due to host their first home show of the season next month.

Taking place at Carlisle’s Milton Hilltop Hotel, the show on October 12 is expected to involve 17 bouts.

“It’s the first one this season,” said Ian Archibald, one of Border City ABC’s coaches. “We have another one booked in on December 7.

“In total, we are looking at having 17 Border City boxers on this show.

"We will have Jack Turnbull and a lot of young ones and new boxers to the club on the show this time, which is brilliant.”

And Archibald admits it has been a busy start to the season for the Carlisle club who had their first bout of their 2019/20 campaign this month.

He said: "We went up to Scotland for some sparring last weekend and we went back up again on Friday."

With Border City having first opened in September 2015, the club has enjoyed plenty of success in the four years since they opened their doors.

James Rowland became the club’s first national champion in 2016, winning the England Boxing Development National Championships, before Brodie Stephenson followed suit later that year, winning her national final in Leicestershire.

Then, last year, Turnbull beat Scarborough ABC’s Reece Harris-Mann in the 75-80kg category in the England Boxing Junior National Final, before he featured at the European Junior Boxing Championships in Romania.

Archibald said: “We have a good team of coaches.”
