Injury has ruled striiker Ashley Nadesan out of an opening-day reunion with Carlisle United.
The striker, who signed for Crawley this summer, has ruptured two ligaments in his left ankle during pre-season training.
The Sussex club said Nadesan was now likely to be out of action for eight weeks.
That means the former United loanee will miss the August 3 League Two opener at Brunton Park
Crawley boss Gabriele Cioffi said on their website: “This is disappointing for Ashley, because as a new player in a new environment you are always trying to make a good impression.
“But he is in good hands with our medical team and hopefully he won’t miss too much of the season.”
