Eight Carlisle Hockey Club members have been selected to represent Cumbria.

From the men's team, Ben Davidson, Jamie Snaith and 16-year-old Joe Harland will be travelling to Fylde Hockey Club where this year’s B Division games will be held.

Cumbria will be playing against Lancashire, Northumberland, Shropshire and the Isle of Man across the weekend of May 11-12.

Although it’s the first time Ben and Joe have been selected to represent Cumbria at full senior level, they both have experience of representing their county.

Joe has previously represented Cumbria at Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 levels. Ben follows in the footsteps of his father, Mark Davidson who played more than 50 times for Cumbria, having also represented Cumberland County Cricket Club this year.

Jamie is selected for the second year in a row.

Their selections are reflective of the fantastic seasons all three players have had, with Jamie recently named the Player of the Season, Ben the Players' Player of the Year, and Joe the Young Player of the Season for the men’s section of the club.

The Carlisle men’s team won all 20 of their games this season as they made a return to the North East Hockey League structure, and have seen an increase in the number of players registered with the club.

The team are also shortlisted for the England Hockey Team of the Year award, with the winner to be announced on May 11.

The Ladies’ section of the club, meanwhile, sees five members selected for the county.  They are Charlotte Brooks, Lucy Eagling, Nicky Spry, Jess Wharton and Rachael Smith.
