Boss Steven Pressley has told Blues forward Nathan Thomas: I’ll stay on your case.
Thomas has scored in Carlisle’s last two games after coming into form following his January loan move from Sheffield United.
The ex-Hartlepool man will be a key weapon for the Cumbrians at Tranmere this afternoon.
But Pressley has warned the skilful 24-year-old that he must continue to deliver.
“Nathan is a lad that needs pushed all the time,” the United manager said.
“If he gets complacent, he’ll drift, but when he’s pushed, he’s a really, really exciting player. We have to keep reminding him [that] it’s only [been] two games.
“Proper players play two seasons back to back like that, or three seasons. That’s the big thing.”
Pressley added that he pointed out to Thomas this week that he has already surpassed his goal record for previous loan club Notts County, for whom he scored just once in the first half of the season.
He added: “I thought he was excellent again last weekend. He’s providing us with a real threat.”
