New boy Peter Grant will bring some old-school defensive qualities to the Carlisle United squad, says manager Steven Pressley.
The Blues boss says the former Falkirk and Plymouth man will prove a no-nonsense addition to his rearguard ranks.
Grant, who joined on Tuesday, meets up with his new team-mates tomorrow and the 24-year-old is likely to be in the squad to face Crewe on Saturday.
Pressley said of his attributes: “You’re getting a little bit of a throwback, a defender that can stand up to the game, that can defend the basics of football, which are required.
“He suits the way we play.”
United’s boss insisted, though, that North Lanarkshire-born Grant’s move to Cumbria from Devon was not necessarily made for geographical reasons.
“No, it wasn’t, because his family are in Plymouth!” Pressley said. “He set off on his journey about 6am and arrived about 11pm...
“He’s going to stay up here permanently. His brother plays for Clyde, so he’ll see a bit more of his brother but maybe not so much his parents.”
